Betty Wakou, PhD, RDN

President

Dr. Betty Wakou is a Registered Dietitian and  Licensed Dietitian.

Currently, Betty is a Director Clinical Nutrition Services. Texas Department of State Health Services. She is also on the UNAA Electoral Commissioner (Uganda North America Association).

She has previously served as a Board Secretary, Board Treasurer, Board Member for NAMCA, worked as Assistant Professor, University of Central Missouri, Nutrition Surveillance Specialist, UNICEF-Eritrea and UNICEF-Uganda, Sub-grants Nutritionist, GOAL-Ethiopia and Assistant Lecturer, Kyambogo University

Interests: NAMCA forging ahead, Behavioral health, Weight management, Nutrition and Health: Live well; Eat well; Be Physically Active, Travel, and Movies, Bible Study, Grisham Novels.

 Community Involvement:

  • Uganda North American Association;
  • North America Masaba Cultural Association

 

Joseph Mulindwa, RN

Vice President

Joseph is a registered and licensed Nurse. He works at the Sutter Santa Rosa Emergency Dept., in California, USA.

He has previously served as a board member of NAMCA

Anthony Walekhwa Wamono

Board Secretary

Dr. Anthony W. Wamono is a  Trained Engineer and Scientist, currently living and working as GIS consultant in the Pittsburg Area.

Anthony has Previously worked as a Technical officer at the East Umbrella for water and sanitation located in Mbale, under Ministry of water and Environment, Uganda. He was also Research Assistant at North Dakota State University.

Anthony’s Professional interests include using modelling, experimental methods and analysis tool to optimize solutions in resource management, geographic information systems applications, and water quality protection.

 Interests: Cultural preservation, mentoring young people, environmental conservation, hiking, reading and community engagement.

Our work around the world is only possible because of our dedicated volunteers, who number in the tens of thousands annually.
